The Other Foundation: Community Grants

Creating a new model of local philanthropy

I started the Other Foundation with the goal of making philanthropy more accessible, transparent, and community-driven. The Other Foundation is a collective of donors who each contribute $100 per month to support community-led initiatives in the Birmingham metro
area.

The Other Foundation is an organization that provides microgrants to non-profits, groups, and individuals working to make a positive impact in Birmingham, Alabama. Unlike other foundations, we are able to provide funding to those who do not have a 501c3 non-profit status. Several grants in the range of $1,000-$3,000 are awarded each month.
