Non-Profit Communications

In addition to creating fundraising events for dozens of non-profits, my work history also includes developing strategic communications for organizations, as well as writing copy for social media, email, and direct mail campaigns. Here is a sampling of my recent communications for the environmental watchdog organization, Tennessee Riverkeeper.

Fundraising appeal letter

Your past support allowed us to grow our legal program, leading to significant environmental remediation in the Tennessee and Cumberland River basins. In Decatur, Alabama, our work led to a 10 year, multi million dollar investment from the City to replace t heir outdated sewage infrastructure. The organization is also suing the 3M Company, whose Tennessee River factory has wreaked havoc on vulnerable communities in North Alabama. The invisible PFAS chemicals they have manufactured at their facility don’t break down, and therefore stay in the environment. The presence of these “forever chemicals” in drinking water is only recently understood. The health consequences can be seriously harmful including possibly causing cancer.

“Would you like harmful chemicals with that?”

If you’ve eaten takeout or fast food in the last few years, there’s a good chance you got a little something extra with your order – PFAS chemicals. A 2020 report published by Toxic-Free Future found that many major fast-food corporations likely serve your food in PFAS coated packaging.

Virtual concert fundraising campaign

For over a decade, Tennessee Riverkeeper has honored the mystique of The Singing River by partnering with amazing musicians to help amplify our message to their fans.

Now, some of our most talented friends in music and entertainment, including many who hail from our watershed, are coming together for one common purpose: their love of clean water.
